Romeo Ibanez, Founder
Romeo Ibanez is the operational architect behind the rise of Icelandic+, a brand that evolved from boutique roots into a global force in premium pet nutrition. He didn’t just run logistics: he redefined them. His tenure saw the first USDA-approved facility in Iceland for processed lamb products, opening the channel between North Atlantic purity and North American markets. That milestone became the backbone of an eight-figure export ecosystem.
Inside the company, Romeo engineered transformation at every layer — production, procurement, quality, and international compliance — forging structure from volatility. He negotiated contracts that slashed logistics costs, transitioned operations to third-party logistics to enhance efficiency, and built scalable frameworks that still underpin Icelandic+’s expansion.
Where others saw bottlenecks, he saw leverage.
Romeo operated with a founder’s instinct and an economist’s precision. Every decision balanced artistry and mathematics — designing systems that could endure pressure and growth simultaneously. His leadership marked Icelandic+’s pivot from a handcrafted startup to an international brand with stable supply, global reach, and institutional discipline.
His academic discipline mirrors his operational one: MBA, Quinnipiac University, 4.0 GPA, and B.A. in History and Asian Studies, Bowdoin College. That combination forged a strategist fluent in systems: someone who could read markets, navigate global regulations, and still move freight on time.
Romeo’s influence extended beyond the factory floor. His work in international trade, compliance, and supply-chain integrity positioned Icelandic+ to become a blueprint for how small enterprises scale without losing integrity. The brand didn’t just grow; it evolved into a case study in disciplined expansion and ultimately became an industry award-winning brand.
Fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish, he operates comfortably across borders, negotiations, and cultures. Whether sitting across from regulators, suppliers, or investors, Romeo’s presence turns complexity into coherence.
In addition to his private sector work, Romeo is also Commissioner for Economic Development for the Town of Hamden, Connecticut. He was appointed by the mayor and legislative council in 2025 for a term through 2029. Romeo’s public service work is inspired by the same partnership-driven approach that led to his prior success. He forges public–private partnerships that turn dormant assets into engines of growth, works alongside small businesses to develop new enterprises, and creates new jobs along the way.
